Those wishing to travel during Carnival and save money should have already started making plans, said the professor of São Paulo School of Economics, Samy Dana, in his column Caro Dinheiro, in the newspaper Folha de São Paulo.According to him, airline tickets prices usually increase at least 30% when bought on the day before the departure. Likewise, lodging is more expensive because of the capacity of hotels and hostels. However, Samy gives some tips to cut costs for those who will still plan their trips. He recommends bus or car transportation, which maintains constant prices, and simpler places to stay, since sophisticated and well located hotels will be either overbooked or overpriced. On the other hand, if the trip still turns out to be too expensive, the professor advises to reassess the situation, postpone the trip and make plans to enjoy activities in their own city.
