Webinar celebrates 20th anniversary of FGV Mediation and Arbitration Chamber

The FGV Mediation and Arbitration Chamber is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a webinar, which will address current discussions that permeate the use of arbitration in specific contexts, as well as possible legislative reforms, with a view to improving it. The event will take place on December 1, at 6 pm, on FGV’s YouTube channel.

The speakers will also discuss the use of arbitration in crisis environments and opportunities in the Brazilian market. The opening speech will be about the 20-year track record of the FGV Mediation and Arbitration Chamber and the moderator will be Juliana Loss, the chamber’s executive director.

The first panel discussion will look at “Arbitration in Crisis Environments.” The speakers will be Selma Lemes, an arbitrator, professor of arbitration and partner in law firm Selma Lemes Advogados; Sérgio Guerra, an arbitrator, the dean of the FGV Rio de Janeiro Law School and a professor of administrative law; and Mario Engler, an arbitrator, professor and coordinator of the professional master’s program at the FGV Sao Paulo Law School.

The second panel discussion is called “Crisis or Opportunity in the Brazilian Arbitration Market?” The speakers will be Silvia Rodrigues, an arbitrator and partner in law firm L.O. Baptista Advogados; and Julia Thiebaut Sacramento, a lawyer at the Arbitration Center at the Federal Attorney General’s Office.
