The participants will also discuss the policies adopted by the Sao Paulo State Finance Secretariat to try to reduce the cost of tax collection and point out potential synergies between academic research and tax policies adopted in practice.

The speakers will be Carlos Gomes, the director of tax and debt collection at the Sao Paulo State Finance and Planning Secretariat; Cesar Akio Itokawa, the secretariat’s director of inspections; and Ciro Biderman, a professor on FGV EAESP’s undergraduate and graduate public administration and economics courses.
