Webinar explores implementation of e-Navigation concept

On February 3, FGV Transport will hold a webinar called “Strategy for implementing e-Navigation concept in Brazilian territorial waters.” The event, to be attended by the Brazilian Navy’s general director of shipping, Fleet Admiral Marcelo Francisco Campos, will discuss the importance and advantages of this new concept for the Brazilian coast. The moderators will be FGV Transport director Marcus Quintella and FGV Transport consultant Roberto Levier. The seminar will be broadcast live on FGV’s YouTube channel, starting at 2 pm.
The International Maritime Organization defines e-Navigation as a concept that includes integrated information systems related to maritime oversight and port services. In the same way that aircraft and airports communicate quickly and securely, the implementation of e-Navigation will allow the expansion of these capacities for ships and ports, on a global scale.
The expected benefits from shifting from the traditional navigation process to e-Navigation include improvements in safety, productivity and efficiency, involving the transfer of maritime data between users (ship-ship, ship-port, port-ship and port-port) through a portal. The adoption of this new concept will increase safety, boost commercial and maritime efficiency, reduce risks and strengthen merchant traffic monitoring.
