Webinar looks at banking regulation

The Nucleus for Financial and Capital Market Studies (MFCap) at Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Sao Paulo Law School will hold a webinar on October 18, at 2 pm, on FGV’s YouTube channel, called “Banking Regulation for Incumbents and New Entrants.” This is the second event in a series of “Financial Market Talks” about key topics for the development of the Brazilian financial markets.

The event will debate topics such as the following: How will the entry of new players, such as fintechs and big techs, affect banking sector regulation? Competition is healthy in principle, but may it affect the system’s resilience? Is there a risk of regulatory arbitrage? How should we define the perimeters of regulation?

The speakers will be Bruno Meyerhof Salama, a professor at UC Berkeley School of Law and Senior Global Fellow at FGV’s São Paulo Law School; Mark Surdutovitch, Head of Credit at Dinie; Gabriel Cohen, Legal, Regulatory Affairs and Government Relations at Stone Co and Genaro Dueire Lins, Chief Credit Officer at Open-Co.
