Webinar looks at climate change and acceleration of global warming

Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Sao Paulo School of Economics (FGV EESP) will hold a series of free webinars about the paths to be taken by Brazil in the run-up to the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26). The first episode will be on August 19, 2021, at 6 pm, on FGV’s YouTube channel, to discuss the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s latest report, which indicated an acceleration in global warming, mainly caused by human action.
This impactful report presents challenging potential scenarios for society and governments. The document was the result of studies by 234 scientists from 66 countries and it contains more than 14,000 citations. In this episode, the guests will discuss this important document for humanity in detail.
The guests will be Eduardo Assad, a researcher at Embrapa, the coordinator of the Low-Carbon Agriculture Program and a member of FGV Agro; Gilvan Sampaio, the general earth science coordinator of INPE; and Daniel Vargas, the research coordinator of FGV Agro and a professor at FGV EESP.
The moderator will be Márcio Holland, a professor at FGV EESP and the coordinator of its Finance and Economics Master’s Program.
The IPCC’s report, which provides the basis for this first event in the series, was the result of studies by 234 scientists from 66 countries and it contains more than 14,000 citations.
