Webinar looks at energy diversification in Brazil
On September 13, at 6 pm, on FGV’s YouTube channel, FGV Energy will hold another webinar in the Energy in Focus series, this time to discuss the biodiesel market and energy diversification in Brazil. The event, called “Energy in Focus: Biodiesel and Energy Diversification”, will explore the future of biofuels in the country, the coexistence in the market of traditional biodiesel and green diesel, pricing, the growing amount of biofuel blended with gasoline and ways of acquiring this product.
In recent years, the supply of different energy sources, including biofuels, has become essential. In Brazil, for decades, this market has featured ethanol, used as an alternative to gasoline, and more recently biodiesel has been introduced to partially replace fossil diesel. This topic is now even more important due to discussions of global warming and necessary reductions in CO2 emissions to contain the climate crisis. Thus, traditional biofuels are being used more and technological advances have also enabled increased use of green diesel.
During the event, specialists will also discuss the growing use of biofuels in the diesel market and regulatory changes needed for further progress in this area.
The speakers will be Donizete Tokarski, the director of Ubrabio; Erasmo Carlos Baptistella, the president of Aprobio; Sandro Paes Barreto, Petrobras’ marketing general manager; and Valéria Amoroso Lima, the Brazilian Petroleum Institute’s downstream director.
The discussions will be moderated by Magda Chambriard, FGV Energy’s oil and gas research coordinator; FGV Energy consultant Milas Evangelista de Sousa; and Flávia Porto, an associate researcher at FGV Energy.
