Yellow September: Event addresses mental health in month to protect life
Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Education Support Center (FGV NAP) is holding a webinar called “Yellow September – Cherishing Life.” This public event will take place on September 6, at 6 pm, on FGV’s YouTube channel. This is the seventh consecutive year that FGV NAP has participated in the campaign, which aims to raise awareness of the importance of suicide prevention.
“FGV NAP seeks to do preventive work throughout the year, bringing topics and experts to the debate agenda, thereby making a significant contribution to improving the mental health of our students. Through this event, we’re trying to open up this initiative to the outside public, because it’s essential to discuss different ways of dealing with anxiety, depression and everyday stress,” says FGV NAP’s coordinator, Helena Giolito.
To this end, FGV NAP will also be holding a webinar called “Promoting Mental Health and Preventing High-Risk Behaviors at University,” featuring Carlos Aragão Neto, a psychologist and psychotherapist with a background in grief studies and thanatology. He has a master’s in anthropology from Piauí Federal University and his thesis was on “Social and anthropological aspects of attempted suicide in Teresina, Piauí.” He also has a doctorate in clinical psychology and culture from the University of Brasilia and his dissertation was titled “Self-injury without suicidal intent and its relationship to suicidal ideation.”
The event seeks to foster reflection on this subject using a multiple approach, dealing with issues such as physical and mental health care, prevention of psychological suffering and consequently suicide prevention.
