Management in times of anti-intellectualism and post-truth discussed by experts at symposium

Alexandre Faria, a professor from FGV’s Brazilian School of Public and Business Administration (EBAPE) will participate in the “78th Academy of Management Annual Meeting” to be held in Chicago (USA) on August 10-14. The professor, who held the position of President of Division in recent years, will be one of the lecturers gathered from around the world to discuss the future of Critical Management Studies (CMS).

The Academy of Management annual meeting coincides with the 20th anniversary of the Critical Management Studies Workshops and the 10th anniversary of CMS as a Division of the Academy of Management. The symposium is organized by the current Co-Presidents of the Division and guest editors of a special issue of the “Organization” journal, focused on the role of CMS in times of austerity, post-truth, anti-intellectualism and the rise of right-wing populism.

The symposium brings together thinkers who were instrumental in the consolidation of CMS as a field of research and practice within the Academy of Management, as well as scholars who are currently defining the future of CMS.
