Fiocruz Director gives lecture on Brazilian healthcare system to exchange students

FGV’s Brazilian School of Public and Business Administration (EBAPE) welcomed the Human Resources Director of Fundação Oswaldo Cruz (Fiocruz), Juliano Lima, who gave a lecture on the “Brazilian Healthcare System and the role of Fiocruz” on September 27. The presentation was geared toward undergraduate students that are part of the International Business Education Alliance (IBEA) exchange program.

At the event, the director stressed the importance of Fiocruz for Brazilian public healthcare through scientific and technological research, the production of drugs and vaccines, and actions that promote advances not only in the healthcare field, but also citizenship and economic and social development. In addition to its recognition and tradition in Brazil, the students were able to see the international relevance of Fiocruz, which participates and contributes to different global networks of excellence in healthcare and also by means of units overseas, as is the case of the factory for antiretrovirals and other drugs in Mozambique.

Dr. Juliano Lima’s lecture is part of the lecture series for the class Field Project FGV EBAPE – Fiocruz: Challenges to Managing Public Organizations in Emerging Economies, taught by professor Yuna Fontoura. In this class, 34 students from four schools of excellence in management and business (EBAPE, University of Mannheim, University of South Carolina and ESSEC) seek solutions and proposals to real management challenges at Fiocruz.
