1st Symposium of Legal Scientific Journals discusses evaluation criteria, indicators and indexes

FGV’s Rio de Janeiro Law School (Direito Rio) and the Administrative Law Review (RDA) held the 1st Symposium of Legal Scientific Journals: A discussion on evaluation criteria, indicators and indexes”, on December 6-7.

One of the goals of the event was to bring together professionals involved in the production and publishing of legal scientific journals for the purpose of discussing the evaluation criteria presented by Qualis-Periódicos. The focus was to foster discussions that can help in the perception and compliance of evaluation criteria defined by the Qualis-Periódicos for legal journals.

According to the Dean of Direito Rio, professor Sérgio Guerra, co-publisher of the RDA, “Discussions were very informative and important for the perception of Qualis/Capes (Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel) methodologies in the editing of scientific journals”.

The panels addressed: challenges in the legal journal editorial market; evaluation of foreign journals; electronic journal indexers; evaluation and planning cycles; using technology in favor of the internationalization of Brazilian journals; and open access and new electronic publishing models – opportunities and challenges. The seminar was supported by Editora Fórum, which publishes the RDA.

The RDA is available in FGV’s Digital Library.
