Most popular products and services on Lovers’ Day are below inflation

The celebrations of Lovers’ Day (a Brazilian non-bank holiday celebrated on June 12) has become 2.35% more expensive, falling below the IPC-10/FGV inflation rate reported between June 2018 and May 2019, which was 5.06% for the same period. The most demanded services among the couples, such as Theatre (-14.92%) and Music Concerts (-2.81%) reported decreases. Nevertheless, Cinema (6.83%), Bars and Snack Bars (4.01%), Restaurants (3.31%) and Hotel/Love Hotel (3.04%) increased more than the average inflation rate for Lovers’ Day gifts and services, which stood at 2.35%.

Another good news is the prices of gifts. On average, the increase was 1.22%, below the inflation rate measured by the IPC-10/FGV. Some of the gifts include: Women’s Shoes (-1.02%), Perfume (-0.99%), Wristwatch (-0,73%), Men’s Shoes (-0,26%) and DVD and Blu-Ray Player (-0,23 %), which reported a decrease in their prices. In this segment, the highest increase was reported in Belt and Bag prices, at 7.39%.
