Chinese consul general discusses measures taken by country to fight coronavirus and economic impacts

Coronavirus (Covid-19) has become a global threat, and concerns about the epidemic, which originated in China and has since spread rapidly across Asia and Europe, have grown in recent days in Brazil, after two cases here were confirmed. To talk about this subject, on March 6 the FGV´s Rio de Janeiro Law School will host a talk by the Chinese consul general in Rio, Li Yang, titled “New coronavirus: why China can control this epidemic in a relatively short space of time.” The event will take place in the 12th-floor auditorium in FGV’s main building, at Praia de Botafogo, 190, Rio de Janeiro, at 9 am.

The guest will talk about the challenges faced in the fight against the new coronavirus, which has so far killed more than 3,000 people around the world, including 2,900 in China. The event will focus on the measures taken by China to control the virus’ propagation, providing strategic information for Brazil, though it will also address the impacts on China’s economy and society.
