On Tuesday, May 5, at 5 pm, Fundação Getulio Vargas’ law schools in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro will hold a webinar to debate the relationship between COVID-19 and the crisis of Brazil’s federalist system, featuring the governor of Maranhão, Flávio Dino (Communist Party of Brazil) and the governor of Goiás, Ronaldo Caiado (Democrats Party). The event will be moderated by Professor Daniel Vargas of the FGV´s Sao Paulo School of Economics (FGV EESP) and FGV´s Rio de Janeiro Law School.

This is the third webinar in a series called “Law and the Coronavirus Crisis – The Legal System’s Contribution to Fighting the Pandemic and Measures to Overcome Its Economic and Social Effects.” In the first two webinars, specialists debated the crisis’ impact on the termination of contracts and labor law, analyzing Provisional Decree 936, which established new rules regulating the labor market.
