Just Transition: webinar debates recovery of the “post-mining” landscape

On September 30, FGV Europe will present the third webinar on the Just Transition initiative, with the theme of Mining & Post-Mining Sustainable Landscape, the discussion will embrace the importance of recovering the “post-mining” landscape for sustainable development whilst looking at case studies and devices that have been successfully implemented in Germany and Brazil. The event will be broadcast live on FGV's YouTube channel starting at 10:30am.
Participants include a representative from the Minas Gerais Secretariat for the Environment and Sustainable Development (SEMAD); Leônidas Oliveira, Secretary of Culture and Tourism of Minas Gerais (SECULT); Antônio Grassi, President of the INHOTIM Institute; Jörg Schlenstedt, Senior Specialist – Lausitzer and Mitteldeutsche Bergbau-Verwaltungsgesellschaft mbh (LMBV); and, Nadine Gerner, Senior Researcher, Strategic Department of Watershed Management of Emschergenossenschaft und Lippeverband. The debate moderator will be Marco Saverio Ristuccia, Senior Economist, Coordinator of the initiative “Towards a Just Transition: an Opportunity for Minas Gerais”, FGV Europe. The meeting will have bilingual translation (English/Portuguese interpreters).
The bilateral technical cooperation initiative, “Towards a Just Transition: An opportunity for Minas Gerais” aims to promote sustainable development pathways in mining territories in a global scenario of energy transition, innovation and economic diversification. It is an initiative from the Getulio Vargas Foundation, FGV Europe, the German Consulate General in Rio de Janeiro, and has the support of the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany (Auswärtiges Amt) and the Government of the State of Minas Gerais.
