Argentina in focus: event debates economic lessons from a crisis and its ramifications

The School of Economics of São Paulo at Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV EESP) will hold, on June 9, at 6 PM, a mastertalk focused on the recent economic transformations in Argentina.
The discussion will primarily address the effects of the economic adjustment program adopted after Javier Milei’s election in 2023. The conversation will cover the consequences of strong currency devaluation, price liberalization, and severe fiscal cuts in the Argentine economy.
The guest will be Fabio Giambiagi, a researcher at FGV IBRE, with a broad trajectory at BNDES and stints at BID and the Planning Ministry. The moderation will be by Márcio Holland, professor at FGV EESP and former Secretary of Economic Policy at the Ministry of Finance.
The mastertalk is part of the agenda of debates promoted by the Postgraduate Programs in Finance, Economics, and Applied Data Science at FGV EESP.
