Last month, FGV's Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence, co-funded by the European Union under the Erasmus+ program, in partnership with the Global Law Research Centre of the Rio de Janeiro School of Law (FGV Direito Rio) - both coordinated by Professor Paula Wojcikiewicz Almeida - began the third edition of the Rio Course on Regional and International Dispute Settlement (Rio CRIDS).

The program, which has already had the participation of professors Fabiane Verçosa (FGV Direito Rio) and Juliana Loss (FGV Direito Rio), will continue with a renowned faculty, made up of professors and experts from leading educational institutions and international organizations.

Among the invited professors and professionals are national experts Marilda Rosado (UERJ), Welber Barral (BMJ), Renato Beneduzi (PUC-Rio), Dhallys Nunes (EEAS-EU) and Tulio Giacomo (Senior Legal Counsel and representative of the Permanent Court of Arbitration in Singapore), as well as professors from renowned institutions abroad, including Jean-Marc Sorel (Sorbonne), Brian McGarry (Leiden), Eric de Brabandere (Leiden), Jed Odermatt (University of London) and Gustavo Garcia (Universidad Andina Simón Bolívar).

With dynamic classes that include case studies and negotiation simulations, the course aims to provide both theoretical background and practical experience in the area of international dispute resolution, arbitration and mediation. The target audience is diverse, including members of the academic community, legal practitioners, specialists, public administration agents and representatives of civil society.

For the course coordinator, Professor Paula Wojcikiewicz Almeida, "by allowing active interaction between academics and professionals, Rio CRIDS generates numerous benefits for participants, such as the promotion of interdisciplinarity, the development of critical thinking, the improvement of analytical skills and the opportunity to expand their network of contacts".

The Rio CRIDS organizing team is made up of researchers Ana Carolina Vasconcelos and Gabriel Ralile, both from the FGV Centre of Excellence on EU-Latin America Global Challenges. The Center is a project of FGV Direito Rio's Global Law Research Center, co-funded by the European Commission.
