Fundação Getulio Vargas, through its International Directorate (FGV DINT), continues to expand its role in global diplomacy, consolidating its partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Itamaraty) in strategic initiatives of Brazil in multilateral forums. This year, Brazil assumed the presidency of BRICS, and building on the successful partnership during G20 Brazil, students from FGV were able to support the planning and execution of the recent meetings of the bloc, held at the Itamaraty Palace in Rio de Janeiro.

Invited by Itamaraty, FGV students participated in various technical and logistical fronts, including support for transportation management and receptions of delegations, assistance in connectivity and communication of meetings, diplomatic support in bilateral meetings, and assistance in organizing plenary sessions.

Their involvement was significant and contributed greatly to the organization of the Sherpa Meeting (preparatory meeting), held between April 23 and 26, 2025, and the BRICS Ministers of Foreign Affairs Meeting, which took place on April 28 and 29.

At the conclusion of the meetings, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Brazil, Ambassador Mauro Vieira, thanked the students for their efforts, gathering for a photo with them.

FGV's collaboration with Itamaraty strengthens the institution's position as a strategic partner in supporting the Brazilian Presidency of BRICS. The group, which now counts 11 full members, gains special importance as a forum for strengthening multilateralism in a context of increasing global trade and geopolitical challenges.

FGV remains committed to supporting Itamaraty in preparations for the next BRICS Summit, which will gather heads of state and government from member and partner countries on July 6 and 7, 2025, in Rio de Janeiro.
