On April 25, the first International Arbitration Conference organized by FGV Justiça (Justice) in partnership with FGV Câmara de Mediação e Arbitragem (Chamber of Mediation and Arbitration) will be held at the FGV Cultural Center in Rio de Janeiro. The meeting brings together experts and authorities to discuss the main topics of international arbitration, focusing on the recognition of foreign arbitral awards and venues for international arbitrations. The event is free and open to the public, starting at 9 a.m.

The seminar will feature an agenda of debates, which include the geopolitical and technological challenges of arbitration in the United States; the Kompetenz-Kompetenz principle; and jurisdictional conflict. During the meeting, the results of two unprecedented research projects conducted by FGV Justiça (Justice), “Jurisdictional Conflict” and “Homologation of Foreign Arbitral Award,” will also be presented.

Luis Felipe Salomão, Vice President of the Superior Court of Justice, General Corregedor of the Federal Justice Council, coordinator of FGV Justiça (Justice) and this event, believes that this will be a meeting rich in reflection on the role of arbitration in the national and global legal landscape.

Among the guests will be prominent figures in the field of Arbitration, such as George A. Beerman, director of the Center for International Commercial & Investment Arbitration at Columbia Law School; and Bridget Mary McCormack, president of the American Arbitration Association.

The event confirms FGV Justiça's commitment to contributing to the improvement and refinement of the Brazilian justice system. This meeting will be an enriching opportunity for the exchange of knowledge and the strengthening of dialogue among professionals, academics, and arbitrators.
