FGV strengthens institutional integration with the Comando Militar do Leste
Representatives from Fundação Getulio Vargas participated in a meeting at the Palácio Duque de Caxias to enhance partnerships aimed at research, training, and public policies in the defense sector

On October 9, a delegation from Fundação Getulio Vargas conducted an institutional visit to the Palácio Duque de Caxias, the headquarters of the Comando Militar do Leste (CML), in Rio de Janeiro. The meeting aimed to tighten cooperation between the institutions and strengthen integration between academia and the defense sector.
The delegation included professors Bianor Scelza Cavalcanti, special advisor to the Presidency of FGV and academic coordinator of the MBA developed 27 years ago in conjunction with the Curso de Política, Estratégia e Alta Administração do Exército (CPEAEx/ECEME); André Meyer Coelho, executive project manager; and Guilherme R. Garcia Marques, a Ph.D. from ECEME and co-coordinator of the research project “Public policies, industry, duality, and national defense,” conducted by FGV within the scope of Pró-Defesa V.
During the visit, representatives learned about the activities of the Núcleo de Estudos Estratégicos do CML, whose mission is to foster the production of knowledge applied to security and defense areas.
According to professor Bianor Scelza Cavalcanti, “interaction with CML represents another step in consolidating constructive dialogue between FGV and the Armed Forces, essential for the development of public policies based on knowledge and a state vision.”
The initiative reinforces Fundação's commitment to applied research and the formulation of strategies aimed at institutional strengthening and national defense.
