Instituto de Inovação em Seguros e Resseguros (FGV IISR) partners with Prudential do Brasil
New maintainer of the Institute will support the research agenda aimed at boosting the insurance sector in the country

Prudential do Brasil is the newest member of the Instituto de Inovação em Seguros e Resseguros of Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV IISR). As one of the maintainers, the insurer will contribute to the Institute, which conducts research and debates focused on the development of the sector.
Vice-president of Institutional Relations and Legal at Prudential do Brasil, Antônio Rezende, believes that the closer relationship between academia and the market, along with the production of academic content by the Institute, may support the expansion of insurance coverage in the country.
In light of this agenda, Rezende highlights a topic that can be addressed by the Institute: “Given our specialization of more than 150 years in personal insurance, this is a subject in which we can contribute significantly, considering how it would be possible to expand this type of insurance in the country.”
The Director of Research and Innovation at FGV, Goret Paulo, explains that the primary objective of FGV IISR is to contribute to the development of the country’s insurance and reinsurance industry:
“To achieve this goal, we utilize the knowledge of researchers from the 11 schools and more than 70 research centers at FGV. These researchers aim to solve problems and contribute to solutions for the challenges posed by professionals working in the insurance industry, by regulators, and by consumers; in other words, we leverage the accumulated knowledge of these researchers to contribute to the development of the insurance industry and thus align with FGV’s own mission to contribute to socioeconomic and environmentally sustainable development in the country,” Goret Paulo explained.
The director also highlighted the importance of having Prudential do Brasil as a member of FGV IISR: “Prudential is one of the leading insurers operating in the country. We believe that this company will be able to significantly contribute to the development of themes that are crucial for realizing the potential that the insurance industry has and that can be achieved in the coming years,” declared Goret Paulo, who also participates in the Institute's Advisory Council.
