International competition challenges students to create solutions for the future of digital currencies
An event promoted by FGV EESP encourages innovation in blockchain and digital finance, bringing together university students from Brazil and Portugal in the 6th edition of the Datathon

The São Paulo School of Economics (FGV EESP) is hosting the 6th edition of the Digital Currency Data Challenge (Datathon), an initiative that promotes the development of innovative solutions in the fields of cryptocurrencies, blockchain, and digital finance. The competition includes undergraduate students from all over Brazil and Portugal in a journey of learning, collaboration, and real market challenges.
The Datathon is an online competition where teams of 3 to 5 students—or formed by the organization in the case of individual registrations—will have eight days to propose solutions targeting the cryptocurrency and digital currency ecosystem. The process includes specialized mentorship and technical evaluation by a committee of experts, which will select the finalist and winning teams.
The prizes include R$ 8,000 for first place, R$ 5,000 for second, and R$ 2,000 for third, along with official certificates from FGV and free access to the 30-hour Cryptocurrency course (Criptofinanças) from the Professional Master's in Finance and Economics at FGV EESP, set to begin in the second quarter of 2026.
FGV EESP is part of the University Blockchain Research Initiative (UBRI), an international program by Ripple that brings together leading universities in blockchain studies. This edition also benefits from the support of GV Code, FGV Crypto, USP-UBRI, and Nova SBE.
