International debates reinforce Brazilian academic leadership in Lisbon
Professors from the School of Public Policy, Government, and Business participated in meetings on the future of taxation and strengthened international dialogue on tax matters

The School of Public Policy, Government, and Business of Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV EPPGE) was represented at the II Future of Taxation Forum, held in Lisbon and promoted by the Brazil–Europe Forum. The event brought together authorities, researchers, and experts from Brazil and Portugal to discuss the direction of taxation in a scenario of rapid economic and technological change.
Professors Liziane Angelotti Meira and Hadassah Laís Santana, from FGV EPPGE, participated in the forum's activities, contributing to the debates on the future of the tax system, the importance of institutions in promoting legal certainty, and the strengthening of international cooperation on tax matters.
The meeting was attended by Minister Gilmar Mendes, Attorney General Paulo Gonet, and several jurists and academics. One of the highlights was the reunion between Paulo Gonet, Liziane Angelotti Meira, and Celso de Barros Correia Neto, co-authors of the book Tributação e Direitos Fundamentais: Conforme a Jurisprudência do STF e do STJ (Taxation and Fundamental Rights: According to the Jurisprudence of the STF and STJ), a reference in the study of the interactions between tax law and fundamental rights.
That same week, Professor Liziane Angelotti Meira also participated in the Annual Meeting of the International Fiscal Association (IFA) and ACONCARF Itinerante 2025, both held in Lisbon, expanding the debate on international taxation, tax litigation, and technological innovation.
The presence of FGV at these meetings reinforces its international activities and the prominent role of Brazilian academic research in global discussions on challenges and innovations in the field of tax law.
