International event on data science and climate to be held in Brazil for the first time
FGV EMAp and IBM promote the 14th edition of the International Conference on Climate Informatics in Rio de Janeiro, with a hybrid program and paid registrations
The School of Applied Mathematics of Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV EMAp), in partnership with IBM Research Brazil, will host the “14th International Conference on Climate Informatics” (CI2025) in Rio de Janeiro from April 28 to April 30, 2025.
This marks the first time the conference is held in the Global South, highlighting the commitment to expanding the international dialogue on climate sciences (meteorology and climatology) and data science, especially in historically underrepresented regions.
With a hybrid format, CI2025 aims to offer an accessible space for researchers, professionals, and students working at the interface of technology and environment. The program includes keynote speeches, thematic panels, and networking opportunities, tackling topics such as meteorology, oceanography, hydrology, remote sensing, social impacts, and climate change.
The conference will also be supported institutionally by Cambridge University Press and Environmental Data Science journal, which will publish the proceedings of the event.
