International workshop gathers experts in stochastic modeling and uncertainties
Event in Rio de Janeiro promotes interdisciplinary debate on advances in probabilistic methods and applications in complex systems

The School of Applied Mathematics at Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV EMAp) hosts, on September 18 and 19, at the institution's headquarters in Rio de Janeiro, the Workshop on Stochastic Modeling and Uncertainty Quantification (SMUQ 2025). The meeting, promoted in partnership with the Instituto Universitario de Matemática Multidisciplinar (IMM) of the Universitat Politècnica de València, Spain, and PUC-Rio, aims to foster scientific exchange on uncertainty quantification techniques and their applications in mathematical modeling.
The event will bring together national and international researchers to discuss topics such as stochastic differential equations, random networks, model calibration, stochastic inverse problems, and uncertainty quantification methods applied to real contexts.
Among the participants are experts from Brazilian and foreign institutions, such as PUC-Rio, INPE, UFPE, Universitat Politècnica de València, Universitat d'Alacant, Universidad de Concepción, INSA-Rouen, and UERJ. The organizing committee consists of Juan Carlos Cortés and Rafael Villanueva Micó (IMM), Rubens Sampaio (PUC-Rio), and Hugo de la Cruz (FGV EMAp).
