New book tackles the challenges of contemporary administrative law
A publication organized by professors from FGV Direito Rio and UERJ brings together academic articles on the challenges of the Administrative State and can be downloaded for free.

The Rio de Janeiro School of Law (FGV Direito Rio) presents the book Transformations of Administrative Law: Democracy, Participation and Regulatory Decision which, organized by professors Fernando Leal and José Vicente Santos de Mendonça, brings together the student production of the Integration Seminar between the stricto sensu Postgraduate Programs of the UERJ Law School and FGV Direito Rio. Now in its eighth edition, the theme of the event was "Democracy, Participation and Regulatory Decision".
Following the successful format of the years prior to the covid-19 pandemic, on October 17, 2024, professors and students gathered to exchange views on research around a current topic: participation in regulatory decision-making. The subject places the relationship between democracy, knowledge and the separation of powers at the center of discussions, and ideas central to the understanding and development of contemporary administrative law.
The significant number of proposals submitted were divided into three working groups: New Challenges for the Administrative State; Law, Economics and Regulation; and Regulation and the Environment. The texts presented in the book are the fruit of an intense debate between teachers and students.
As with all the other editions, the work is guided by the critical and constructive spirit that should guide the development of academic work; by the relationships of respect, admiration and friendship that bring together teachers and students from the two institutions; and by tackling a current and relevant issue for public law research in the country.
