The São Paulo School of Economics of Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV EESP) promotes another edition of the “Amazônicos Dialogues” series. The meeting will be dedicated to innovations in the pharmaceutical industry and the potential of bioactives from the Amazon.

The debate will feature the participation of Fernanda de Negri, Secretary of Science, Technology, and Innovation and of the Economic-Industrial Health Complex of the Ministry of Health; Iran Gonçalves Júnior, medical director of EMS – NC Farma Group; and Adriano D. Andricopulo, innovation coordinator of the Center for Research and Innovation in Biodiversity and Pharmaceuticals (CIBFar/CEPID) of FAPESP and president of the Academy of Sciences of the State of São Paulo.

The speakers will address how the pharmaceutical industry, one of the highest investors in research, development, and innovation in the world, advances with new molecules, biological therapies, biotechnology, and artificial intelligence. The recent P&D initiatives in Brazil, their impacts on the health system, and the relevance of the Amazon's biodiversity in this process will also be discussed.

The moderation will be conducted by Márcio Holland, professor at FGV EESP, coordinator of the Post-Graduate lato sensu (the Masters of FGV EESP), columnist for Broadcast/Agência Estado, and the creator of the series, which reaches its third edition in 2023.
