Sport and solidarity unite cultures at the first edition of the Zayed Charity Run in Brazil
Held in Copacabana, the charity run brought together athletes and the academic community in an initiative promoted by the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates with support from FGV

The Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV), through its International Director (FGV DINT), supported the first edition of the Zayed Charity Run in Brazil, which took place last Sunday, October 5th, at Copacabana Beach. The charity run, promoted by the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Brazil, aims to promote health, well-being, and solidarity.
Created in 2001 in honor of the founder of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Zayed, the initiative gathers thousands of participants annually in various cities around the world. The event includes professional and amateur athletes as well as people with disabilities (PWD), promoting sport, inclusion, and social engagement, directing 100% of the registration fees to social impact projects.
As part of the partnership and encouragement of sports practice and cultural integration, FGV students and employees were allocated 500 spots, ensuring participation from the academic community in the run and strengthening institutional engagement.
Student Bianca Mendes Pires Ji (FGV EESP) described the experience: "My participation, facilitated by FGV, was an incredible multicultural experience! It was so moving to see and participate in an event for a charitable cause, especially when it comes to a union for physical activity."
FGV's Director of Operations, Marco Antônio Teixeira do Amaral, highlighted the impact of the institution's involvement: "Congratulations to DINT for including FGV among the sponsors, supporters, of this street race in the country. It is very important to create and strengthen habits that contribute to physical and mental health. It was a rewarding experience to participate in this first run with FGV students and staff. May more come!"
The event reinforced how international partnerships can create meaningful experiences for the academic community, encouraging students and staff to engage in global initiatives.
