FGV, through its International Affairs Division (FGV DINT), and in partnership with the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Brazil, held the event “BRICS & Beyond: A High-Level Dialogue” on April 29, featuring the presence of Reem Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation of the UAE. 

The meeting took place at FGV’s headquarters in Rio de Janeiro and brought together public policy makers, diplomats, academics, leaders from both the public and private sectors, and students from the institution. Topics discussed included the role of the  United Arab Emirates in BRICS, the expansion of cooperation with Brazil and Mercosur countries, and opportunities in sectors such as renewable energy, sustainability, innovation, and education. 

During her speech, the Minister highlighted the UAE's commitment to strengthening bilateral and multilateral relations, investing in green technologies, and fostering the development of global leaders. She also emphasized the country’s pledge to triple global renewable energy capacity by 2030, as outlined in the Emirates Consensus, signed during COP28 in Dubai. 

The event was opened by FGV President Carlos Ivan Simonsen Leal, who emphasized the importance of education as the foundation for international cooperation and mutual understanding. FGV’s Director of International Affairs, Marlos Lima, reinforced that initiatives like this are key to expanding the institution’s global reach and deepening partnerships with strategic countries such as the United Arab Emirates.
