    Covid 19: Impact on women labour market and education intend to discuss the last research results from three economists with different experiences, but with complimentary research areas. Mitali Nikore our international guest, will present data from India women labour market during Covid-19. Lorena Hakak, a researcher and co-founder of Family and Gender Economics Study Group focus on gender and family issues. She will bring us some data from PNAD in Brazil. And Lycia Silva, which research interests are mainly on applied microeconomics, particularly public policy evaluation of human capital investments interventions. How women were impacted by the crisis? Can we say that gender gap increased? Which are the results from India? What happened in Brazil? These are some questions that we will intend to pose for Mitali, Lycia and Lorena.

    Speakers:

    Mitali Nikore
    Is an economist who advises several public and private sector entities including the Asian Development Bank, World Bank, and UN Women, focusing on infrastructure development and gender issues. She completed her master’s degree in Economics at LSE in 2012.  

    Lorena Hakak 
    She holds a Ph.D. in Economics from São Paulo School of Economics (FGV EESP) and is a Lecturer at Department of Economics from the University of Sao Paulo. She coordinates the Family and Gender Economics Study Group (GEFAM). Her work is based on family formation and gender inequalities and what impacts these decisions may have in relation to marital surplus, social inequality, cultural traits, intra-family bargaining and demography. Research fields include Family Economics, Gender Economics, Applied Microeconomics and Game Theory. 

    Lycia Silva 
    She holds a Doctorate in Public Administration and Government with emphasis on Politics and Economics of the Public Sector from FGV EAESP, with visiting periods at Massachussets Institute of Tecnology- MIT (2018-2019) and University College London (2018). Masters in Development Economics by University of London- SOAS, UK. Graduated in Economics by Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, Brazil. She is currently a lecturer at FGV EAESP, deputy director of FGV EESP Clear - Center for Learning on Evaluation and Results for Brazil and Lusophone Africa, associate researcher in C-Micro – Center for Applied Microeconomics and associate researcher in Center for Politics and Economics of the Public Sector at FGV. Previously held positions in the World Bank in Washington DC, the UN in Geneva, the Secretariat of Strategic Affairs of the Presidency of Brazil and the Government of Minas Gerais State in Brazil. Her research interests are Applied Microeconomics, particularly public policy evaluation of human capital investments interventions (Early Childhood, Education and Labor Market). She also works on research in the areas of Urban Economics and Public Finance.

    Lilian Furquin
    She holds a bachelor's degree in Economics from the Federal University of Paraná (1997), a Master's degree in Economics from Fundação Getulio Vargas (2001), Visiting Scholar: Columbia University (2008), and a PhD in Political Science from the University of São Paulo (2010). She worked as an advisor for the São Paulo State TreasuryOffice in the modernization of public services’s project, the Electronic Government. Lilian participated in the creation of the new São Paulo School of Economics of Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV EESP). She has experience in educational legislation, preparation of pedagogical projects, institutional development planning, national IES reports, curriculum preparation and project leadership. Since 2018, she is the deputy dean at FGV EESP.
