On a mission to Mozambique, Professor Marcus Vinicius Rodrigues, from the Center for Cooperation with Africa and Portugal (NuCAP) of FGV’s International Affairs Division (DINT) was welcomed by former president of Mozambique, Joaquim Chissano, the country’s first head of state after its independence. The main goal of the mission in the African country was to prospect new business opportunities and analyze potential partnerships.

In addition to the national leader, important figures from the executive branch of Mozambique also welcomed Rodrigues, including the Prime Minister, Carlos Agostinho do Rosário, Minister of Economy and Finance, Rogerio Nkomo, Minister of State Administration and Public Function, Carmelita Namashulua, and Minister of Labor, Employment, and Social Security, Victory Dias Diogo.

Two other important meetings generating potential business opportunities for FGV were also held with Machatine Munguambe, president of the Administrative Court, whose equivalent in Brazil would be the Federal Court of Auditors, and Amélia Nakhare, president of the Tax Authority of Mozambique, an entity equivalent to the Brazilian Internal Revenue Service.

According to professor Rodrigues, FGV could potentially forge new partnerships with Mozambican institutions for training programs and other services in the very near future.

“The groundwork in terms of foundations and agreements has already been laid out. As a local partner for the operation of future projects in Mozambique, DINT/NuCAP will have the partnership and institutional support from Instituto de Governação, Paz e Liderança – IGPL, and executive training support from Fundação Joaquim Chissano,” he said.
