FGV law school selects PhD holders and candidates for scholarship program

PhD holders and candidates from Brazil and abroad can apply for research scholarships, under the Fellows in Rio 2017-2018 program, until April 30. The fourth edition of the program, organized by FGV’s Rio de Janeiro Law School (Direito Rio), will select researchers in the field of Law or other related areas.
Those selected will develop their projects in one of the school’s three research centers: Center for Justice and Society (CJUS), Center for Research in Law and Economics (CPDE) and Center for Technology and Society (CTS). Lasting for six months, the program includes participation in projects and workshops, as well as short courses or classes for undergraduate students, along with FGV professors.
According to Eduardo Jordão, Fellows in Rio coordinator, ideally proposals should be related to FGV’s current research tracks, such as those related to Internet regulation and the role of the Supreme Federal Court, or otherwise have significant relevance to academia.
“By opening up this space for researchers, we come into contact with the main research studies conducted worldwide. This is an extremely important initiative for the School’s internationalization process. During the last edition, we reached a high number of registrations from researchers of more than 50 different nationalities,” said Jordão.
Researchers from major Brazilian and foreign universities applied to the first few editions, including USP, UnB, UERJ, UFPR, UFBA and PUC-RJ; Harvard, Yale and NYU (U.S.); SciencesPo and Sorbonne (France); London School of Economics and Oxford University (England); Universities of Hamburg, Heidelberg and Augsburg (Germany); Jindal University (India), and Universidad Austral (Argentina).
Applicants must either hold a PhD or be a PhD candidate, and may choose between the period of August to December 2017 and January to June 2018. Registrations must be submitted via e-mail (cri.direito@fgv.br), indicating the preferred semester, attaching the resume or Lattes/ CNPq platform link, and the research proposal or thesis summary with up to 5,000 characters.
