Lecture on Brazil’s fiscal situation to be held at FGV

FGV’s EPGE Brazilian School of Economics and Finance will host the lecture ‘The fiscal situation in Brazil: Perspectives and Proposals for Reform,’ at the auditorium of FGV’s main office, on April 11, at 2 PM. The topic will be presented by economist and associate researcher of the Brazilian Institute of Economics (IBRE), Manoel Pires.
The purpose of the lecture is to introduce the theme of fiscal policy to students, introducing the main concepts, indicators, and stylized facts commonly addressed in public debates on economic policy. From this introduction, it is possible to address the current perspectives of fiscal policy and the main reforms under discussion.
Manoel Pires holds a PhD in economics from UnB and was Secretary of Economic Policy of the Brazilian Ministry of Finance, as well as Chief Economic Advisor of the Brazilian Ministry of Planning, Budget, and Management. He also worked as Planning and Research Technical Expert at the Institute for Applied Economic Research (IPEA).
