Eradication of poverty and reduction of inequality debated at event in the U.S.

Director of FGV’s International Affairs Division (DINT) and President of the International Association of Schools and Institutes of Administration (IASIA), professor Bianor Cavalcanti, participated in the Annual Conference of the American Society for Public Administration (ASPA), held in Atlanta, U.S., on March 17-21, 2017.

The main public administration event in the United States, the ASPA Conference brings together scholars, professionals, and students to share trends and information on current developments in the field. The main theme of the event’s 78th edition was ‘Saluting the Public Service: A Bold and Noble Profession'.

On the first day of the event, professor Cavalcanti presented the paper ‘Public Administration for Poverty Eradication and Reducing Inequality: The Brazilian Experience,’ on the panel ‘Achieving Sustainable Development Goals and Leaving No One Behind: Public Administration, Poverty Eradication and Inequality,’ of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA).

Next, the professor also presented the paper ‘The Management of Migration in Brazil: Experiences and Lessons’ in the panel ‘Managing Migrations Worldwide: Challenges for Public Administration,’ of the International Institute of Administrative Sciences (IIAS), moderated by Geert Bouckaert, President of the IIAS.
