The ‘Major Projects in the Amazon – Lessons and Guidelines’ initiative, of FGV’s Center for Sustainability Studies (GVces) and Sao Paulo School of Business Administration (EAESP), launched a publication in March featuring guidelines to carry out large projects in the Amazon region.

The goal is to organize and highlight lessons learned and recommendations, whether in the context of public policies or business practices, in order to establish a new type of relationship between large enterprises, such as hydroelectric and mining projects, for instance, and the territories they cover.

Supported by the World Bank Group’s International Finance Corporation (IFC), this initiative engaged more than 300 people representing over 130 institutions for 15 months, developing diagnoses, practical tools and a set of guidelines, in addition to an online public inquiry held between December 2016 and February 2017.
