FGV participated in the Global Think Tank Summit 2017, held in early May in Yokohama, Japan. Organized by the Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program (TTSCP) of the University of Pennsylvania and the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the event was launched under the theme ‘Achieving Balanced Growth in Asia and the World for Sustainable Development: the Role of Think Tanks.’

The event focused on pointing out the most urgent issues for Asia and the rest of the world, in addition to identifying areas in which global think tanks can make positive contributions. The Executive Director of FGV’s Latin American Center for Public Policy (CLPP), Professor Marlos Lima, represented FGV. The professor mediated the International, Energy, and Food Safety panel, which featured Thomas Gomart (Director of the Institut Français des Relations Internationals); Koichi Ai (Director of Applied Research of the Japan Institute for International Affairs), and Kiumars Javidnia (Director of the Institute for Political and International Studies of Iran.)

The Global Think Tank Summit is organized by the TTCSP and brings together experts, researchers, and directors of the 100 largest think tanks worldwide. FGV occupies the 9th place in the worldwide think tank ranking, and 1st in Latin America.
