FGV participates in international forum on the internet, human rights and development

Renato Rocha, professor at FGV’s School of Applied Mathematics (EMAp), participated in the Stockholm Internet Forum (SIF) held in the Swedish capital on May 17 and 18. The professor presented the paper titled “Algorithms, future and digital rights” at the panel that discussed digital rights and the challenges and opportunities of empowerment.
The researcher’s work on artificial intelligence at EMAp outlines issues related to the heuristic of algorithms in devices with artificial intelligence.
“It was very interesting to contribute to the debate on technological issues, such as the ethics of algorithms, privacy, collection of personal data, and artificial intelligence in a human rights congress. These constructs and devices have shaped society as we know it, influencing political decisions and the agendas of social movements and digital rights activists,” said Rocha.
Held every two years, SIF is an international forum designed to promote in-depth debate on how the Internet and the surrounding technologies can help promote human rights and development.
