FGV’s Brazilian School of Public and Business Administration (EBAPE), Paulo N. Figueiredo, recently taught the Innovation Management course for officers from the Brazilian Army’s Technological Innovation and Management Agency (AGITEC).

The course provided participants with fundamental and applied training on the technological innovation management process. The main purpose was to prepare the participants for various innovation management activities within the Brazilian Army and the defense industrial base in Brazil.

“The defense industry performs an important role in ensuring the country’s national sovereignty and industrial development. Additionally, the defense industry can create technologies whose applications extend to other areas of society. However, technologies in the defense area are usually sensitive and difficult to access. Therefore, the development of innovative local technological capabilities is highly relevant for the mastery and creation of proprietary technologies,” said professor Paulo N. Figueiredo.

The course was held by FGV in partnership with AGITEC and was coordinated by professor Antônio Carlos Pôrto Gonçalves, Director of New Business Studies at FGV (Business Studies Division - DENN). Classes were taught in April and May.
