Law Schools Global League awards FGV research

The research titled ‘LENT: Legal Education and Technology’, of Sao Paulo Law School (Direito SP), received the LSGL Innovation in Legal Education 2017 award, from Law Schools Global League (LSGL). Created in 2012, LSGL brings together 24 law schools from different countries in order to facilitate cooperation in research and teaching methods, in order to tackle new challenges posed by economic, political, and financial globalization in traditional law education.
Conducted through an interdisciplinary approach between Sao Paulo Law School’s Nucleus for Teaching Methodology (NME) and Law and Innovation Research Group (GEPI), the awarded research began this year and will extend until late 2018. According to professors Marina Feferbaum and Alexandre Pacheco, NME and GEPI coordinators, respectively, the goal is to pinpoint the key impacts of technology on legal professions, particularly automation combined with big data analysis, and identify the skills that the market will require from legal professionals in the future.
“The purpose is to identify technology trends in the provision of legal services and their impact on legal careers, in order to establish a market reference in the design and remodeling of law courses”, said the professors.
The award is in its first edition and reviewed research projects based on criteria such as innovation, impact, and possibility of implementation across different jurisdictions.
