Meeting proposes definition of principles to eradicate corruption in state-owned enterprises

The second meeting of the “Advisory Board of the Initiative of Integrity for Brazilian State-Owned Enterprises”, a project by Transparency International (TI) – Brazil Program and FGV’s Rio de Janeiro Law School (Direito Rio), was held on June 23. The activity is linked to an international project by TI, whose goal is to define global principles to eradicate corruption in state-owned enterprises.
The coordinator of the Center for Justice and Society (CJUS), professor Michael Mohallem, faculty member Beto Vasconcelos, and researcher Guilherme France represented Direito Rio at the meeting. TI was represented by the director of Brazil Program, Bruno Brandão, and the initiative’s coordinator, Claudia Sanen.
The Advisory Board comprises employees from federal- and state-owned enterprises operating in the field of compliance, corporate governance and risk management. The meeting featured members of companies such as Petrobras, Eletrobras, BNDES, Caixa, EMGEPRON, INFRAERO and CODESP, who shared their unique perspectives on the initiative and its future directions.
The debate also featured contributions from guests Jorge Hage, former minister of the Federal Inspector General Office (CGU), and Fabian Bornhorst, representative of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Brazil.
