Pursuing the goal of enriching the educational experience of undergraduates, graduate Law students, and new professionals, FGV’s Rio de Janeiro Law School (Direito Rio) will offer short-term courses across several fields in the second half of the year. Envisioned as complementary activities for the education of bachelors and lawyers, the courses have a duration of 10 to 60 hours, depending on the content covered. Classes range from July to November, depending on the participant’s choice.

The course ‘Law and Letters: Communication, Law, and Social Networks’ will focus on Law in the media stage. Classes will cover the tools for good verbal and written communication, the use of blogs, websites, and social networks, the concept of news, journalistic language, and differences between opinion and analysis. In the course ‘Law, Culture, and Art,’ students will have access to information regarding the cultural reality of Law, as well as issues related to the field and the perception of reality.

There will also be courses in English, such as ‘Regulating New Technologies,’ which will feature the regulation of new technologies and new regulatory paradigms, among other topics, and ‘Urban Policies and the Right to the City,’ for those interested in matters such as Law, culture, leisure, and democratic management, as well as community engagement and the use of public space.

According to the Undergraduate Coordinator of Rio de Janeiro Law School (Direito Rio), Thiago Bottino, the school’s goal with these initiatives is to allow students to better prepare for the challenges of the job market, expanding their general culture and learning the specific aspects of promising legal fields. “The meetings are also a space for interaction between students from different educational institutions,” he said.
