Fundação Getulio Vargas and the Brazilian Navy have formalized a partnership between the two institutions in a ceremony held on July 18, at FGV’s main office in Rio de Janeiro.

The event was attended by the President of FGV, Carlos Ivan Simonsen Leal; the Vice-President of FGV, Sergio Franklin Quintella; the Board Member of FGV, Lindolpho de Carvalho Dias; the Dean of FGV Projetos, Cesar Cunha Campos; FGV Professor Irapoan Cavalcanti; the Director-General of Materials for the Navy, Fleet Admiral Luiz Henrique Caroli; the Coordinator-General of the Nuclear Submarine Development Program (Prosub), Fleet Admiral Gilberto Max Roffé Hirschfeld; the Director of Civil Works for the Navy, Rear Admiral Flavio Macedo Brasil; in addition to the Modular Enterprise Manager for Submarine Construction and Maintenance Infrastructure, Rear Admiral Paulo César Colmenero Lopes.

According to Carlos Ivan Simonsen Leal, it is paramount for the country to have a suitable defense infrastructure to protect national territory, especially considering that the Brazilian coastline extends for more than 8,500 km in its earthly portion. Fleet Admiral Luiz Henrique Caroli highlighted the importance of the partnership with Fundação Getulio Vargas in the Nuclear Submarine and Four Conventional Submarines Construction Program, in which FGV is responsible for implementing and enhancing project management activities.

FGV and the Brazilian Navy have been partners since 2011, working together in various programs and initiatives ranging from professional training to technical support for project development.
