Revista de Administração de Empresas (Journal of Business Administration) features different perspectives on ‘Dynamic Capabilities’

Dynamic Capabilities are addressed through different approaches by several authors, as well as criticism regarding the boundaries of the concept. This is the central theme of a special edition of Revista de Administração de Empresas (Journal of Business Administration), published by FGV’s São Paulo School of Business Administration (EAESP).

The subject was divided into seven papers from the Dynamic Capabilities Forum, an essay, and the classic Review and Book Recommendations sections. Organized by Adriana Roseli Wünsch Takahashi (UFPR), Sergio Bulgacov (EAESP), Claudia Cristina Bitencourt (UNISINOS), and Hale Kaynak (The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley), the Forum’s papers are integrated and offer the latest insights into this topic, featuring nationally and internationally recognized authors.

The paper titled ‘Mnemonic capabilities: Collective memory as a dynamic capability’ is featured among the approaches regarding collective memory and the past, written by Diego M. Coraiola (University of Alberta), Roy Suddaby (University of Victoria), and William M. Foster (University of Alberta). The study shows that these social constructs are essential resources for organizations to promote change.

Another highlight is the contribution of David Teece, author of the classic ‘Dynamic Capabilities and Strategic Management,’ which in this edition of the journal published the essay ‘Dynamic capabilities: Fostering an innovation-friendly environment in Brazil,’ co-authored with colleagues from the Silicon Valley Institute, Julia Doebber Herrmann and Lucas Cé Sangalli.

The journal is freely available on FGV’s Digital Library. Click here to read it.
