Event discusses the role of the Regulator State amidst innovations in the financial system

FGV’s Rio de Janeiro Law School (Direito Rio) will host the ‘5th Brazilian Symposium of the Administrative Law of Regulation’ on August 18, starting at 9:30 a.m. The event will take place in the auditorium of FGV’s main office, in Rio de Janeiro, under the theme ‘Regulation and Innovation in the Financial System’.
The Symposium brings together leading experts in the field and covers themes such as state regulation, capital markets, blockchain, IOSCO (International Organization of Securities Commissions), Brazilian Securities and Exchange Commission (CVM), and the global risks of new financial technologies, among others.
The opening ceremony will be led by the Deputy Dean of Education, Research, and Graduate Studies, and coordinator of the Academic Master’s in Regulation Law from Rio de Janeiro Law School, professor Sérgio Guerra, and the President of the Scientific Council of Instituto Brasileiro de Altos Estudos de Direito Público (IBRAEDP), professor Juarez Freitas. They will talk about the relationship between state regulation and new technologies.
The event will also feature Alexandre Santos (CVM/AGU), Ricardo Anhesini (KPMG Brasil), Cristiane Iwakura (EAGU-RJ and CVM), Patrícia Menandro (ANBIMA), Yasodara Cordoba (Harvard), Marco Carnut (CoinWISE), Daniel Sivieri (JVA Advogados), Rosine Kadami (Blockchain Academy), and Diego Almeida (StartMeUp Crowdfunding). Rio de Janeiro Law School (Direito Rio) will be represented by professors Melina Rocha Lukic and Patrícia Sampaio, from the Center for Research in Law and Economics (CPDE), and Pablo Cerdeira, Coordinator of the Center for Technology and Society (CTS).
