Experts share first impressions of new Brazilian Code of Civil Procedure
The new Brazilian Code of Civil Procedure (CPC) has substantially changed the rules under which millions of lawsuits are processed in Brazil. In order to address this subject, FGV’s Rio de Janeiro Law School (Direito Rio) will host the event titled “The New CPC: First Impressions” on August 18, at 9 a.m. The meeting will gather scholars and experts on this matter in the Hall on the 8th floor of FGV’s main office, in Rio de Janeiro (Praia de Botafogo, 190).
The new CPC has been in effect for a little more than a year and, just like any procedural standard, its effectiveness depends on its proper application. The purpose of the event is to share first impressions regarding the application of the new code, while also presenting an overview of the main impacts arising from the recent reform of the Brazilian Code of Civil Procedure, targeting scholars and other legal experts involved in litigation proceedings.
During the seminar, renowned experts will discuss the pros and cons observed during the first year of the CPC/2015, helping establish the best interpretation of the new procedural law.
The event will feature important names in the area, such as professors Joaquim Falcão, Guilherme Sokal, Ronaldo Cramer, Marcio Vieira Souto, Carlos Roberto Jatahy, Luiz Roberto Ayoub, Diogo Resende, and Fabiano Robalinho.
