International Law library includes FGV professor's book in Librarian's Choice

The book titled ‘Latin America and the International Court of Justice: Contributions to International Law’, organized by FGV’s Rio de Janeiro Law School (Direito Rio) professor, Paula Almeida Wojcikiewicz, and by École de droit de la Sorbonne professor, Jean-Marc Sorel, was chosen as ‘librarian’s choice’ by the Library of The Hague Peace Palace, main office of the International Court of Justice.

Published in 2017 by Routledge, the work is the result of a collaboration among 25 international experts from the most renowned universities and research centers in the world, weaving a qualitative analysis regarding the decisions of the International Court of Justice involving Latin American countries and their contribution to International Law.

The book seeks to innovate on the qualitative analysis of the Latin American contribution to International Law before the International Court of Justice from a multifunctional standpoint. The study includes the historical contribution of Latin America to international law, as well as the procedural and material contribution of cases involving Latin American States in the Court.

“The inclusion in the ‘librarian’s choice’ list of The Hague Peace Palace site, which is regarded as the most important International Law library in the world, gives international recognition to the work,” said professor Paula Almeida.

The authors recommended by the library include renowned Philippe Couvreur, Malcom Shaw, Hugh Thirlway, J. G. Devaney, Judge Antônio Augusto Cançado Trindade, Marc Milanovic and Michael Wood, Serena Forlati, Giorgio Gaja, and Robert Kolb, among others.
