Professor Luiz Antonio Joia, Head Researcher of the laboratory of the Electronic Business and Government Lab (e:lab) of FGV’s Brazilian School of Public and Business Administration (EBAPE), participated in the ‘Americas Conference on Information Systems’ (AMCIS 2017). The event was held in Boston, USA, on August 10-12.

During the conference, professor Joia presented the paper ‘Adoption of E-Hailing Apps in Brazil: The Passengers’ Standpoint’, developed jointly with e:lab researcher and EBAPE PhD Candidate Diego Altieri. The study investigates the background of the continued use of alternative transport smartphone apps, such as Uber, Cabify, 99, etc. by Brazilian users.

In addition, Joia attended the annual meeting of the Latin America Chapter of the Association for Information Systems (LACAIS), of which he was a co-founder, and was asked to coordinate the track ‘Digital (Ir)Responsibility’ at the AMCIS 2018, which will be held in New Orleans. Sponsored by the Association for Information Systems (AIS), AMCIS is one of the most important conferences in the field of Information Systems, including the use of Information and Communication Technology in Public and Business Management.
