Fundação Getulio Vargas has launched a website on Ethics and Compliance, via its Internal Control Division (DCI). The website was created to boost visibility of FGV’s Internal Controls and Compliance Systems, as well as its Code of Ethics and Conduct and Anti-Corruption Policy, which are two of the main elements of this system.

When Brazil passed the Anti-Corruption Act (Law No. 12.846/13), it definitively placed itself on the map regarding the fight against corruption. This law contains provisions to punish companies for acts of corruption against national and foreign public administrations, while the scope of punishments goes beyond fines and penalties. It involves intangible and hard-to-measure values, such as the image and reputation of an institution.

In response to this movement of greater transparency and control, FGV has identified the opportunity to be more effective in monitoring and mitigating potential exposure to risks. Hence the creation of the Internal Control Division (DCI), responsible for drawing up policies and guidelines, as well as tools and standards, to ensure that noncompliance and operational risks that could compromise its sustainability and growth are managed efficiently and effectively, with a reasonable degree of certainty.  

In addition, also striving for the sustainability of its brand, image, and reputation, FGV is increasingly concerned with its social and environmental responsibility. Its new Code of Ethics and Conduct aligns FGV to the practices of other national and international organizations, while respecting its specific qualities and based on its mission, vision, and institutional values. The code highlights and reinforces its principles of excellence, integrity, ethics, and respect for social and legal values.
