On September 21, at 2 p.m., the Graduate Seminars program of FGV’s Brazilian School of Public and Business Administration (EBAPE) will welcome Khalid Nadvi, professor of International Development from the University of Manchester (UK) and researcher specialized in issues related to industrial development and commerce. The guest speaker will present the article titled “Global value chains and the rise of the Global South: Unpacking 21st century polycentric trade”. The event will be held in English and is open to the public.

The article focuses mainly on clusters of small companies, global value chains and production networks, as well as corporate social responsibility and technological innovation.

As the Research Coordinator of the “Rising Powers and Interdependent Futures” program, from the British funding agency Economic and Social Research Council, Nadvi spearheads a study called “Rising Powers, Labour Standards and Governance of Global Production”. The professor has articles published in more than 30 high-impact journals and also works as a consultant for several international funding agencies, such as UNIDO, Revista Observatório de Inovação do Turismo – OIT (Innovation in Tourism Observatory Magazine), UNCTAD, IADB and the World Bank.

After the presentation, the lecturer will host a Q&A session for students, professors and researchers in attendance.
