Seminar discusses prospects for Tax Reform progress

Tax Reform always seems to find its way back into debate. FGV’s Rio de Janeiro Law School (Direito Rio) will host a seminar on this subject on October 10, starting at 9 a.m., to discuss prospects regarding the matter’s progress in 2017. The event will feature authorities and experts on the matter, discussing consumption, income and payroll taxation. The book “Tributação e Desigualdade” [Taxation and Inequality] will also be launched during the event.
The first panel will discuss consumption taxation, presenting a new reform proposal based on a dual consumption taxation model, in addition to discussing the federal issue and a reform case based on State initiative.
The second panel will focus on issues involving payroll taxation and Income Tax for Individuals and Corporations.
Created through a partnership between Letramento publisher and Direito Rio, the book “Tributação e Desigualdade” [Taxation and Inequality] will also be launched at the end of the event. Compiled by José Roberto Afonso, Melina Rocha Lukic, Rodrigo Orair, and Fernando Gaiger Silveira, the book features articles from renowned local and foreign authors addressing taxes as a tool to redistribute income and reduce inequality.
